Changan Automobile Champions a Fair and Sustainable Automotive Future at COP30

Belém, Brazil, Nov. 17, 2025 – Changan Automobile participated in COP30 in Belém, Brazil, held from November 10 to 21. The company joined the “China Business Power Driving Global Climate Transition” forum, organized by the China Chamber of International Commerce, where it engaged with international organizations, businesses, and research institutions to discuss collaborative strategies for the automotive industry’s green transformation.

Despite the global push for green mobility, fragmented carbon regulations are elevating compliance expenses for vehicle manufacturers. Emerging requirements, such as the EU Battery Regulation’s mandate for carbon footprint accounting, are establishing substantial carbon barriers. Changan Automobile emphasized the critical importance of achieving mutual recognition of standards to ensure equitable competition and accelerate the automotive industry’s low-carbon transition.

As a prominent entity in China’s automotive sector, Changan actively participates in the development of regulatory frameworks. The company collaborates with organizations including GreenNCAP, the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), and Deutscher Kraftfahrzeug überwachungsverein (DEKRA) to jointly formulate the Guidelines for Sino-European Automotive Carbon Footprint Accounting, Verification, and Mutual Recognition. Additionally, Changan works with the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and other bodies to establish Product Category Rules (PCR) under the International Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) system, thereby fostering alignment with international standards.

Concurrently, Changan is dedicated to comprehensive decarbonization throughout its entire value chain, concentrating on Life-Cycle Carbon Emissions (LCCE) management from raw materials to production, usage, and recycling. Through these internal initiatives, the company seeks to develop scalable solutions to overcome the complexities arising from disparate carbon regulations.

In its production operations, Changan has introduced 198 efficiency enhancements and process optimizations, achieving over 97 percent utilization of reusable packaging. Pertaining to its energy infrastructure, Changan has constructed photovoltaic power stations at 12 facilities, boasting a combined installed capacity exceeding 200 MW. These stations generate nearly 200 million kWh of green electricity each year, mitigating carbon emissions by 173,000 tons, with more than 20 million kWh of excess electricity supplied back to the grid.

Changan’s operational methods illustrate that reinforcing mutual recognition of standards, sharing vital technologies, and enhancing data collaboration can foster a more equitable global environment for the automotive sector. This strategy has the potential to accelerate green and inclusive development, cultivate trust, and realize substantial sustainability advantages. Moving forward, Changan intends to uphold an open stance, cultivate global consensus, dismantle green barriers, and work collaboratively with international partners to forge a fair and sustainable future for the automotive industry.
