Ningbo, Dec. 12, 2025 —

  • The new Geely Safety Centre earns five new Guinness World Records for its size, scope, and capabilities
  • The Geely Safety Centre provides full capabilities for new tests tailored to the electrified and intelligent vehicle era
  • Cybersecurity, data privacy protection, health, and environmental protection are integrated into Geely’s new Comprehensive Safety concept
  • The Geely Safety Centre serves as a new platform for collaborating with global partners on safety technologies and standards

Ningbo— Geely Auto Group today launched the Geely Safety Centre, now the world’s largest and most sophisticated automotive safety testing facility. Covering 45,000 square meters with an initial investment exceeding 2 billion RMB, the center allows Geely to speed up safety technology innovation and raise global safety benchmarks.

The Geely Safety Centre encompasses the entire range of global safety testing—from high-speed crash tests and pedestrian protection to active safety simulations, battery and new energy powertrain safety, cybersecurity, and health-focused safety assessments. Moving beyond standard vehicle and occupant safety tests, the new center is designed to support Geely’s “comprehensive safety” framework for the intelligent vehicle age. It features new capabilities like cybersecurity testing that meets CNAS-certified standards, addressing multiple attack vectors and evaluating chips, firmware, data transmission and encryption, OTA updates, vehicle sensors, and controllers, among other areas. For Geely, safety extends beyond products and vehicles; human and environmental health are also key safety aspects the center can assess. The Safety Centre’s “Golden Nose” team specializes in testing volatile materials and odors, detecting harmful substances, and ensuring products adhere to a “zero harmful gas/odor” standard.

The new Safety Centre has also achieved five world records: the largest automotive safety laboratory (81,930.745 m²), the longest indoor car crash test track (293.39 meters), the largest altitude-climate adjustable (snow/rain/solar radiation simulation) wind tunnel (28,536.224 m²) for car testing with a maximum wind speed of 250 km/h, the largest arbitrary-angle (0-180°) car crash test zone (12,709.293 m²), and the most tests (27 types) offered in an automaker’s safety test laboratory.

The new Safety Centre integrates global best practices in automotive safety development, merging insights from international safety leaders with Geely’s own rapidly evolving R&D capabilities to take safety performance beyond regulatory mandates. It also enhances Geely’s partnerships with institutions like CATARC and Tsinghua University, including the joint publication of the White Paper on the Development of Intelligent Vehicle Safety. These efforts collectively reinforce Geely’s dedication to leading the next phase of safety innovation and setting higher industry benchmarks in the intelligent mobility era.

Over the last decade, Geely has invested over 250 billion RMB in R&D, with safety as a central priority. The launch of the Geely Safety Centre marks the next step in this commitment, allowing Geely to provide safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility solutions for users worldwide.

Jerry Gan, CEO of Geely Auto Group said
