Singapore Navy Rescues Crews from Two Burning Oil Tankers

The Singapore navy reported on Friday, July 19, that they had rescued crew members from two oil tankers that caught fire approximately 34 miles northeast of the Singaporean island of Pedra Branca, situated near the world’s largest refueling port.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) had earlier stated that fires broke out at 6:15 a.m. on Friday aboard both a Singapore-flagged tanker, Hafnia Nile, and a Sao Tome and Principe-flagged tanker, Ceres I. The cause of these fires remains unknown.

In a statement shared on social media, the Singapore navy revealed that the frigate RSS Supreme had successfully rescued the crew and was providing medical aid. While specific details were not immediately disclosed, photographs released by the Singapore Air Force captured the rescued crew being extracted from a helicopter and subsequently transferred to a hospital.
