FOURTEEN people from Cebu were part of the 433 bettors who won the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) P236 million 6/55 Grand Lotto jackpot on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022.Aside from Cebu, 14 people from Batangas were also part of the jackpot winners during the Oct. 1 draw.In a data provided by the PCSO on its Facebook page, majority of the 6/55 Grand Lotto jackpot winners are from Metro Manila with 152 winners.Next to Metro Manila is Cavite with 34 winners; Rizal with 22 winners; Bulacan and Laguna with 21 winners each; Pampanga with 13 winners; Pangasinan with 11 winners; and Benguet and Iloilo with 10 winners each.The provinces of Leyte and Albay had seven winners each; Misamis Oriental had six winners; Davao del Sur, Isabela, Negros Oriental, Quezon and Zambales had five winners each; while Bataan, Bohol and Tarlac had four winners each.The provinces of Ilocos Norte, Aklan, La Union, Negros Occidental, Palawan and Zamboanga del Sur had three winners each; Cagayan, Eastern Samar, Marinduque, Misamis Occidental, Mountain Province, Nueva Ecija, Oriental Mindoro and South Cotabato had two winners each.The provinces of Agusan del Sur, Antique, Aurora, Biliran, Bukidnon, Camarines Norte, Capiz, Ilocos Sur, Lanao del Norte, Maguindanao, Nueva Vizcaya, Occidental Mindoro, Samar (Western Visayas), Sorsogon, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay had one winner each.ProbeFinding the results as “strange and unusual,” Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III said he will file a resolution seeking the conduct of investigation on the PCSO’s gaming activities following the winning of 433 lotto bettors in a single draw.Pimentel said this is to ensure the integrity of the PCSO games and activities and to protect the Filipino enthusiasts.On Saturday, Oct. 1, 433 bettors hit the PCSO 6/55 Grand Lotto with a jackpot prize of P236,091,188.40, making it first in the history of the Philippines.Pimentel said the result was “strange and unusual,” noting that chances of winning lotto are “one in a million.”“I will file a resolution, because this is my concern, these lotto games are authorized by the Republic of the Philippines. Therefore, we need to maintain and protect the integrity of these gambling games that we have authorized,” he said.He said he will seek the opinion of statisticians and mathematicians regarding results of PCSO draws.“Tanungin natin ang PCSO kung mga lucky pick (LP) ba itong mga winners na ito, that means system-generated ‘yung number nung tumaya pero therefore, there is nothing random about their LP kasi ibig sabihin nun binigay nila sa 400 plus katao, umulit-ulit.
