15 Carcar village chiefs told to surrender service firearms

AT LEAST 15 barangay captains in Carcar City, southern Cebu responded to the call of the police to surrender their service firearms with expired licenses.

Lieutenant Colonel Ardioleto Cabagnot, chief of Carcar City Police Station, said in an interview with SunStar Cebu on Friday, February 10, that he was expecting the barangay captains to turn over their .45 pistols issued by the local government unit (LGU) in the next few days.

Cabagnot said the Carcar City LGU will facilitate the renewal of their gun licenses.

Cabagnot advised the village chiefs to deposit their firearms at the police station to avoid being sued for illegal possession of firearm.

The police chief also encouraged private individuals to surrender the unlicensed firearms that they are carrying. (GPL/TPT)
