15 homecare workers, 31 kids in Lapu recover from Covid-19

THIRTY-ONE minors and 15 personnel of the Homecare Center in Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City who got sick of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) have finally recovered from the disease.

This was confirmed by Annabeth Cuizon, the head of Lapu-Lapu City’s Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

Cuizon said the Homecare Center’s personnel and their young wards were able to recover from Covid-19 after undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine at the facility.

Majority of those who were found positive of Covid-19 at the facility only experienced mild symptoms.

Cuizon said that to ensure that the infection that hit the facility was contained, they had to suspend visitations while their personnel and their wards were undergoing isolation.

Anyone who wanted to provide assistance for the children were required to leave their donations outside the facility, Cuizon said.

While children who were endorsed to the facility for safekeeping were required to provide a negative RT-PCR test to the City before he or she is brought there.

The City implemented a lockdown at the facility after 33 kids being kept there tested positive of Covid-19 earlier this month. (GCM / JKV)
