15 of 20 who escaped from Operation Second Chance apprehended

LOCAL police are still searching for the remaining five children in conflict with the law (CICL) who escaped from the Cebu City Operation Second Chance (OSC) facility in Barangay Kalunasan on Saturday night, April 9, 2022.Lt. Col. Janette Rafter, chief of the operation branch of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said they already rescued 15 of the 20 CICLs and turned them over to the facility as of Monday, April 11.Rafter said personnel from the Guadalupe Police Station and members of CCPO’s tracker teams are still searching for the remaining five CICLs.On Saturday evening, April 9, at least 20 CICLs staged an escape amid a heavy downpour on that day.The 20 CICLs conducted the daring escape when the guards and OSC personnel were reportedly treating one of their wards who had difficulty breathing.The CICLs were able to overpower the guards and OSC personnel by using wooden sticks.Following their escape, local police immediately pursued the CICLs until some of them were apprehended on the same day.
