TWO bets under Mayor Michael Rama’s Partido Barug-PDP Laban Party received the endorsement of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) Monday, May 2, 2022, for their candidacy in the upcoming elections.These are reelectionist Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera and Jaypee Labella, son of the late mayor Edgardo Labella who is also eyeing a seat in the city council.However, Rama told SunStar Cebu that he had not yet received any word from INC if the religious group would support his bid for mayor.Rama said he would wait for the official endorsement of INC which may come in the form of a letter or through a press conference.The mayor hopes their entire slate will be endorsed by INC, which is known for the bloc voting of its members.Garganera said he received a call from an INC member informing him of the group’s endorsement.“The caller was not in a position to divulge other information other than my candidacy,” Garganera said.Labella posted on his Facebook account his gratitude to the religious group.“Thank you Iglesia Ni Cristo for supporting me. Thank you for your trust and confidence,” said Labella.
