2 cops, detainee hurt after vehicle falls off cliff in Talisay City

TWO police officers and their detainee were hurt after the vehicle they were on accidentally fell off a 20-foot cliff in Barangay Manipis, Talisay City on Friday, August 12, 2022.Corporal Joshua Omison, 28, and Patrolman Albert Neil Ante, 24, who are assigned at the Criminal Investigation Detection Group Cebu Province, and their detainee Joen Lorrie Caserial, 29, were onboard their white patrol car and were proceeding towards Toledo City to attend a court hearing when the accident happened.According to investigators, the vehicle was passing Purok Bamboo in Manipis at 12 noon when its driver suddenly lost control and it suddenly fell off a cliff. The three men suffered minor injuries as trees growing in the cliff cushioned the vehicle’s fall, said Jonathan Tumulak, head of the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-Toda).Tumulak said the driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to the road condition in the area which became slippery due to the rain that had poured onto the city a few hours earlier. The CT-Toda report did not identify the driver.Tumulak said officials in the barangay were the first to respond to the accident and were able to rescue the three men.
