2 killed in buy-bust at SRP lot in Cebu City

TWO men suspected of selling shabu in bulk were killed after exchanging fire with anti-illegal drug operatives at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City on Thursday night, July 8, 2021.

Operatives of the Philippine National Police’s Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) Central Visayas recovered four kilos of shabu from the two men, whose identities were not yet disclosed.

DEG 7 Chief Police Lt. Col. Regino Maramag told reporters that at about 8 p.m., they were conducting a buy-bust at a vacant property situated between a mall and a university in Barangay Mambaling when one of the men opened fire at them.

Both men were killed in the shootout; no law enforcer was hurt, Maramag said.

Recovered from the two men were a kilo of what may be shabu, an AR-9 semi-automatic rifle and a .44 caliber pistol. Inside the men’s red car, they found three kilos of what may be shabu.

Both men had been under surveillance for a month, Maramag said. (AYB, JKV)
