2nd drive-thru vax site eyed

AFTER launching the drive-thru Covid-19 vaccination at the New Oasis for Adaptation and a Home (Noah) Complex at the South Road Properties (SRP), the Cebu City Vaccine Advisory Board is preparing to establish another drive-thru vaccination service at SM City Cebu.

At the launch of the drive-thru vaccination site Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, the Board urged those belonging to the transportation sector to avail of the drive-thru service.

Noah manager Jocelyn Pesquera said the drive-thru service is available on Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The priority of the drive-thru vaccination are the senior citizens and persons with comorbidities, she added.

But if there were individuals who are in the vehicle but do not belong to Priority Codes A2 and A3, they will also be accommodated, Pesquera said.

She said up to 300 vehicles can be accommodated in a day.

The availment of the drive-thru service must be done through appointment basis with the Vaccine Operations Center, the Vice Mayor’s Office or the City Health Department office.

The City Government is also coordinating with the transportation sector so drivers, especially those handling public transportation units like taxis, buses, and motorcycles-for-hire, will be inoculated.

Pesquera said the operators and drivers must register first online through pabakunata.com.

“It’s also important that our commuting public will feel confident when they ride public vehicles like taxis and jeepneys, that they will feel they are safe,” said Pesquera.

City Health Department (CHD) officer-in-charge Jeffrey Ibones said the procedure done at the Noah Complex will then be the template for the drive-thru to be established at SM City Cebu.

He said that on Monday, Sept. 6, the Board will open another vaccination site at the Southwestern University PHINMA. (JJL)
