4 out of 8 BICs disinfected

FOUR out of eight Barangay Isolation Centers (BICs) in Cebu City were disinfected Monday, August 30, 2021.

Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera, deputy chief implementor of the city’s Emergency Operation Center (EOC), told reporters that they disinfected the BICs located at the public schools in Barangays Zapatera, Mabolo, Labangon and San Nicolas after accepting several symptomatic Covid-19 patients.

Garganera said the four BICs have suspended accepting new patients until these have been disinfected.

With the four BICs suspending acceptance of new patients, the BIC at the City Central School is now in full capacity.

But Garganera said there are still available spaces at the four other BICs in Guadalupe which has 26 beds; at the Don Sergio Osmeña Sr. Memorial High School which has 60 beds; and at the Mega Isolation center at the Cebu City Sports Center which has 39 beds.

Estanislao Kimhe Chan III, who was appointed by the City to manage the BICs, said the disinfection on the four BICs will be completed within the week.

Combined, the BICs in the City can accommodate 642 patients. At present, they are accommodating 388 patients. (PAC / JKV)
