40 cops, soldiers to augment local police in Talisay for celebration of city’s annual fiesta

FORTY police personnel and soldiers will be deployed in Talisay City in the lead up to the celebration of its annual fiesta in honor of Sta. Teresa de Avila on October 15, 2022.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes, head of the Talisay City Police Station, the additional police officers will come from the Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), while the soldiers are from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

They will be joined by force multipliers to ensure peace and order during the many activities that are lined up for the fiesta.

Caballes pointed out that fiesta celebrations in 2020 and 2021 were quiet because of the many restrictions imposed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease pandemic.

“We expect a lot of people this year. The local government through Mayor (Gerald Anthony) Samsam Gullas (Jr.) has prepared many exciting activities. The opening salvo took place last October 1. There will be activities until October 15 and we expect locals and non-locals alike to participate,” the police official said in Cebuano.

Caballes added that the local police and the additional augmentation of police officers and soldiers will be on guard in the two areas where the activities are held. (BBT, PJB)
