75k Pfizer doses to arrive in Cebu

ANOTHER batch of 75,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines intended for children ages five to 11 years old is expected to arrive in Central Visayas on Friday, March 4, 2022.Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, chief pathologist of the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH 7) and spokesperson of the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC), assured the arrival of the vaccines, a week after they temporarily halted the vaccination for the age group in local government units (LGUs) where vaccines allocated for the first dose were all consumed.The first batch was 88,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines against Covid-19 distributed to 10 LGUs, including Cebu Province, and Project Balik Buhay.Loreche said they will later announce the allocation or distribution per LGU.Just like the first batch of Pfizer vaccines that arrived last Feb. 12, the distribution will be based on the eligible population per LGU.In Metro Cebu alone, 3.80 percent or 15,441 of 406,395 children have been vaccinated for the first dose.Cebu City has vaccinated 1.95 percent or 4,499 of its 230,497 projected population.Mandaue City has also vaccinated 17.48 percent or 2,855 children of its target eligible population while Lapu-Lapu City has vaccinated 2,350 children, for a rate of 3.72 percent.Mandaue City has the highest vaccination rate among the nine LGUs in Metro Cebu since it only has a target population of 16,329 children. Lapu-Lapu City has a 63,173 projected population.Talisay City has been able to vaccinate 1,400 of its target population of 15,000 children.The City of Naga has vaccinated 1,170 of its target population of 13,900 children.The towns of Minglanilla and Consolacion have vaccinated 1,110 and 970 or about 5.43 percent and 5.11 percent of their respective projected population.The target population of Minglanilla and Consolacion are 20,454 and 18,977 children, respectively.The towns of Cordova and Liloan have also vaccinated 500 and 587 of their 13,485 and 14,58 target population, respectively.Of the first batch of 88,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines allocated for Central Visayas, DOH 7 allocated 26,000 for Cebu Province; 6,000 for Cebu City; 3,000 doses each for the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu; 2,800 for Talisay City; 1,600 for Consolacion; 1,500 each for the City of Naga and towns of Minglanilla and Liloan; 1,000 for Cordova, and 100 doses for the Project Balik Buhay.
