9 barangays in Ginatilan under added restrictions

GINATILAN has placed nine of its 14 barangays under added restrictions from September 15 to 30, 2021 due to the scourge of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) there.

On September 15, Wednesday, Ginatilan Mayor Dean Michael Singco issued Executive Order (EO) 10, Series of 2021 placing Covid-19-affected barangays Palanas, San Roque, Poblacion, Guiwanon, Salamanca, Looc, Mangaco, Cañorong and Malatbo under additional restrictions.

The EO also bars non-residents from joining the southwestern Cebu town’s tabo (Tuesday Market), during which the sale of “non-essential goods e.g. plants, slippers, ropes, toys, knives” or any other similar products has also been prohibited.

In the nine barangays, minors under 15 years old and senior citizens above 65 years old are mandated to stay home, except for securing essential goods and for medical emergencies.

Gatherings, such as meetings, birthdays, weddings, beach parties and other social and community events, are prohibited. Only gatherings for the provision of health services, government services or other humanitarian activities authorized by government are allowed.

Also prohibited are indoor and outdoor contact sports; the drinking of liquor in public places; and the operation of Internet cafes, cockpits, fitness gyms, karaoke establishments and other recreational and entertainment activities;

Trisikad shall be allowed only one passenger and must have physical barriers between the driver and passenger. Motorcycles-for-hire may take only one passenger.

As of September 17, Ginatilan had logged 235 cases since the pandemic began, of which 187 had recovered and 10 had died. The town has 38 active cases.

The bulk of the active cases were in Poblacion, with nine active cases. San Roque had seven active cases; Mangaco, six; Malatbo, five; Palanas, four; Looc, three; Cañorong, two; and Guiwanon and Salamanca, one active case each.

Mayor Singco himself survived Covid-19 last February.

Under EO 41, Series of 2021, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia placed Cebu Province under general community quarantine from September 8, 2021 after new Covid-19 cases in the province started declining from their August all-time highs.

Cebu Province comprises 44 towns and six component cities. (CTL)
