98 arrested in CPPO’s gun ban ops

NINETY-EIGHT people have been apprehended in Cebu Province for violating the election gun ban.The election gun ban began on Jan. 29, 2022.Col. Engelbert Soriano, chief of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), told reporters that since the election gun ban began, they have confiscated around 108 unlicensed firearms, 20 bladed weapons and 149 assorted ammunition.Majority of those that CPPO arrested for violating the election gun ban were apprehended in checkpoints.Meanwhile, CPPO have also arrested 29 people allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade within one week of anti-criminality and law enforcement operations.Their operations also resulted in the confiscation of 260 grams of suspected shabu with a total worth of P1.8 million.
