Aguinid Falls in Samboan closed to public on Jan. 6

AGUINID Falls in Barangay Tangbo in the southwestern town of Samboan, Cebu will be closed on Friday, January 6, 2023, due to the holding of the barangay’s “waterfalls fiesta.”

This was confirmed by Municipal Tourism Officer Ryan Galano on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

However, Galano said the town’s other waterfalls will be open to the public.

Based on the data gathered by the Municipal Tourism Office, more local tourists visited the town during the first three quarters of 2022. During this period, it was estimated that around 15,000 people visited the town’s different waterfalls.

This year, Galano said they hope to see an increase in foreign tourists, especially since many restrictions in global travel have been lifted.

Galano said Samboan boasts of not less than 10 waterfalls. However, the most popular ones are Aguinid, Binalayon and Dao Falls.

“As I’ve noticed, ubay-ubay na og foreigner nga nisulod… one of a kind ang three-meter nga falls sa Samboan and naay ilang own characteristics. Lahi-lahi gyud og ika-showcase. Pinaka-top gyud namo ang Aguinid followed by Binalayon and Dao,” he said.

Galano said all the town’s tourist guides undergo a refresher course every year to better serve and protect the public. (ANV, PJB)
