Alin boosts logistics business with expansion, franchise offering

A LOGISTICS provider is banking on the growth of e-commerce to deepen its presence in the Philippines and overseas even in the midst of a challenging business environment.

Alin Group of Companies on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, inaugurated its Cebu Corporate Office at Tipolo Square in Mandaue City. It also simultaneously opened four Alin Cargo branches in the cities of Mandaue, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod and Las Pinas.

The group also introduced its mobile application for Alin Cargo Express.

Israel Alin, chairman and chief executive officer of Alin Group, said the company’s aggressive expansion for the year amid the Covid-19 pandemic is buoyed by the rapid growth of e-commerce all around the globe.

He added it is also appropriate for the company to diversify its business to other facets of the supply chain given the company’s solid business background in customs brokerage since 2006.

Alin Group is also engaged in import/export, trucking, cargo forwarding, logistics and soon, money remittance.

Overseas presence

The addition of Alin Cargo Express in 2019 has enabled the company to also provide express delivery, shipping and courier services particularly to overseas Filipinos and their families in the Philippines. The cargo forwarding business has a presence overseas in Thailand, Dubai, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, China, and soon in some European countries as well as in North America. In the Philippines, the company plans to open six more branches in the next few months.

While the Covid-19 pandemic has been wreaking havoc on the world’s traditional supply chains, causing delays in the delivery of cargoes, Alin Group’s lawyer Ramy Amenion said the pandemic has not affected the volume of goods being moved from overseas to the Philippines.

This is because of the continued rise in overseas Filipino communities sending packages to their families, the rise in the number of Filipinos now engaged in online businesses and the number of people moving out of the city to provinces, among others, Amenion said.

Alin said the company’s strength lies in the easy, safe and convenient movement of shipments, particularly balikbayan and commercial boxes.

The company will soon venture into money remittance as well, to better serve overseas Filipino workers and their families.

Franchising

To deepen its presence in the Philippines and provide livelihood opportunities to more Filipinos, Alin said they are opening Alin Cargo Express for franchising at P188,000 in 20 select locations—Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, Pampanga, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Naga City, Pangasinan City, Isabela City, Mandaue City, Iloilo City, San Carlos City, Tacloban City, Davao City, Tagum City, General Santos City, Butuan City, and Zamboanga City–that already have a strong network base.

Because of these developments, including the company’s expansion programs and franchise offering, Amenion said they are forecasting the company’s network operations to grow by 50 percent next year.
