Amparo bags WBF minimumweight strap

JAKE Amparo finally earned his first championship belt after beating fellow prospect Roldan Sasan by unanimous decision for the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) minimumweight belt in the main event of “Kumong Bul-anon IV” last Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Dauis Gym in Dauis, Bohol.Amparo totally dominated Sasan, dropping him in the sixth round, and walking away with a comfortable victory.Judges Edwin Barrientos and Noel Flores had identical scores of 99-90, while Rey Caitom scored the fight 100-89 all in favor of Amparo.Amparo improved to 8-3-1 with two knockouts, while Sasan suffered his second straight loss and dropped to 8-3 with three knockouts.Hard-hitter Antonio Seismundo (8-3, 7 KOs) totally outclassed John Lawrence Ordonio by unanimous decision in the show’s main supporting bout.Seismundo dropped once in the sixth round.All three judges saw Seismundo up ahead with scores of 80-71, 79-72 and 79-72.In the undercard, Johnriel Castino (10-1, 4 KOs) walked away with a technical decision over Remon Basas (6-7, 4 KOs), Angilou Dalogdog (4-0, 2 KOs) squeaked past Jimpol Dignos (2-3, 1 KO) by majority decision, Shane Gentallan (3-0, 1 KO) defeated Darwin Boyones (3-3, 1 KO), Christian Balunan (3-0, 2 KOS) knocked out Jomari Ladera (2-3, 1 KO), Frances Damoloan (1-0) had a successful pro debut with a unanimous decision win over fellow newcomer Zaire Espedilla (0-1), and Daniel Nicolas (4-0, 3 KOs) retired Mark Anthony Rotilles (2-9, 1 KO).RJ Sios-e also had a successful ring debut with a first-round technical knockout win over Francis Lota (0-1), Alec Xandhre Bonita (1-0, 1 KO) stopped Roga Libres (3-18) in one round and Rey Dogelio (2-0, 2 KOs) destroyed Joselito Malinao (0-2) in the third round.Reymart Tagacanao, a teammate of Balunan and Sios-e at the Villamor Boxing Gym, wasn’t able to fight after his opponent, Miel Beronio, failed to submit his CT scan results on time.
