APO Land unveils 4 new mining engineering scholars

FOUR students from the City of Naga, Cebu will no longer have to worry about their college tuition and other school fees, as the APO Land and Quarry Corp. (ALQC) is taking care of these needs.

Students Kurt Bhen Casero, Justin Bernard Tapia, Alliah Diginion and Shaina Macalinao recently signed a memorandum of agreement with ALQC, a supplier of raw material of APO Cement Corp., for a scholarship grant that will ensure their bright future of becoming mining engineers and a great chance for them to become part of the workforce of the county’s leading cement company.

Quarry operations head engineer William Melano Jr., public affairs director Christer James Ray Gaudiano and community relations officer Fulgencio Ubay Jr. signed the agreement for ALQC that officially sealed the grant for the four scholars, who are now assured of an annual grant of at least P100,000 that would cover for their college school fees, clothing allowance, book allowance, transportation allowance, living allowance, as well as their thesis allowance.

This scholarship program, though, is exclusive only for mining engineering students.

Dubbed as Apo Land and Quarry Scholarship Program, it is the company’s way of fostering its long-time commitment to the community through its flagship’s social development and management program.

A scholar who will also graduate with a Latin honor will also be getting an incentive from the company—P10,000 cash for cum laude, P20,000 for magna cum laude, and P30,000 for summa cum laude.

At present, there are a total of six scholars under the program, and when they finish college, they will be prioritized by the company in the hiring process for employment.
