Apolinar, Langres lose in Japan

FILIPINO pugs Pete Apolinar and Robert Langres lost their respective fights in Japan last Dec. 31 at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.

Apolinar was outclassed by former amateur standout Hayato Tsutsumi by unanimous decision.

Tsutsumi got the nod of all three judges with scores of 80-71, 80-71 and 79-72.

Apolinar suffered his second straight defeat in Japan after previously losing to Yoshiki Takei a few months back.

Apolinar dropped to 16-4 with 10 knockouts, while Tsutsumi improved to 2-0.

Langres, on the other hand, also lost by unanimous decision to Ryuto Owan.

Owan convincingly beat Langres with identical scores of 80-69 from all three judges.

Langres fell to 11-5 with four knockouts, while Owan is now 10-1 with six knockouts.

In the main event, World Boxing Organization (WBO) super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka (29-2-1, 15 KOs) fought World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight titleholder Joshua Franco (18-1-3, 8 KOs) to a majority draw.
