Archdiocese of Cebu to end 500 YOC activities after Holy Week

THE Archdiocese of Cebu will formally culminate the celebration of the 500 years of Christianity (500 YoC) with weeklong activities starting with a second online National Mission Congress (NMC) after the Holy Week.Fr. Mhar Vincent Balili, chairman and secretariat of the Archdiocese’s 500 YoC, said the culminating activities will be held starting Easter Sunday, April 17, 2020, until April 24.Balili said they opt to hold simple culminating activities for the NMC.Everybody is invited and that they will just inform the public on how to register, said Balili.The opening of the NMC will be held in Basilica Minore del Santo Nino on April 17 at 5 p.m.On April 24, Balili said they will have three big events including the closing mass of the NMC and 500 YoC at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral at 11 a.m.; simultaneous closing mass in different parishes in Cebu at 11 a.m.; and the grand procession that will be done in the afternoon at 4 p.m. from the Capitol Grounds to the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.Balili said after the procession, Palma will have a very short program at the Cathedral grounds where he is set to declare the closing of the 500 YoC.
