The 36-year-old Schröck donned the national colors one last time in a 2-1 loss to Indonesia.
“It was an honor and a pleasure to represent our country for 11 years. I wore my father’s last name but played with my mother’s heart. In the end, all I can say is: From the bottom of my heart — thank you all,” Schröck posted on his official Facebook account last Tuesday.
Schröck, born to German father and Filipino mother, represented Germany in the youth level but switched alliances to the Philippines in the men’s level.
He made his debut for the Philippines on June 29, 2011 in a 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers first-round match against Sri Lanka. He scored his first international goal in a 2-1 defeat to Kuwait.
Schröck finished with 57 caps for the Azkals and suited up most notably in the 2014 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup, 2019 AFC Asian Cup, 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and 2021 SEA Games.

Though retired from international play, Schröck is still competing in club football, playing for the Azkals Development Team in the Philippines Football League.
He’s also busy teaching the youth with his Azkals Development Academy. (EKA)
