THE Big Yellow Promotions, along with Team Seva, will host its first boxing show this month since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country in 2020.“Bakbakan sa Compostela” features a 10-bout card on July 16, 2022, at the Compostela Gym in Compostela, Cebu.The show is headlined by a six-rounder between unbeaten prospect John Vincent Pangga and Carlito Antaran.After a stellar amateur career, Pangga made his pro debut in 2021 with a unanimous decision over Elizer Ambon. He followed it up with two more wins in 2021.Pangga continued his rise in 2022 with back-to-back triumphs over Pablito Balidio and veteran Joel Taduran.After a three-fight winning run in 2019, Antaran lost two straight in 2022. He suffered a third-round knockout in the hands of John Paul Tabanao and lost to Alex Santisima via a first-round stoppage.Pangga is 5-0 with three knockouts, while Antaran is 5-6-1 with three knockouts.Journeyman Anthony Sabalde makes a ring comeback against battle-tested veteran Ernie Sanchez in an eight-round main supporting bout.Sabalde hasn’t fought for two years and eight months. His last fight was in 2019, a fifth-round stoppage against Richard Bulacan.Sanchez, on the other hand, is coming off a second-round knockout of experienced JR Magboo to win the Philippine Boxing Federation lightweight belt last May 1.Sabalde is 13-10 with eight knockouts, while Sanchez is 20-17-2 with 11 knockouts.In the undercard, Kit Garces (2-0, 2 KOs) faces off with Belmar Plaza (4-13-3, 2 KOs), Anthony Gilbuela (4-1-1) locks horns with Jimpol Dignos (2-4, 1 KO), Kenneth Egano (3-1, 1 KO) slugs it out with Jay Ar Aliasot (6-4, 5 KOs), Reycar Auxillo (2-1, 1 KO) trades leathers with Jusue Bastillada (3-0, 1 KO), Alec Xandre Bonita is up against Jomarie Ladera (2-3, 1 KO), John Niño Vega is fighting Vince Jason Mapait, Marco Pumar (1-0, 1 KO) takes on Kier Torregosa (0-1) and Richie Cacanog (1-0, 1 KO) squares off with Charles Batianca.Big Yellow Promotions, headed by its president Seth Oliver Tio, last promoted an event co-headlined by a double World Boxing Foundation (WBF) title fight event just before the Covid-19 pandemic derailed sporting events in the country.
