BJMP Mandaue receives new P1.5M transport vehicle

MANDAUE City Mayor Jonas Cortes turned over the P1.5 million jail transport vehicle for the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Mandaue City female dormitory on Sept. 14, 2021 at the Mandaue City Presidencia.

This is the second jail transport vehicle provided by the City to the Mandaue City Jail this year. The first one was given to the male dormitory, said Cortes.

In an interview, Cortes said the BJMP female dormitory requested this transport vehicle because its existing transport vehicles are old.

Cortes added that their existing vehicles are high-maintenance and have a lot of repair demands.

Transport vehicles are important for the BJMP as they will be used to transport the detainees from the Mandaue City Jail to the court hearings and vice versa.

With this, Cortes said they found the need to purchase new transport vehicles for the female dormitory.

He said upon the request of the BJMP, the city immediately looked for ways to allocate funding to purchase the vehicle.

The P1.5 million budget allocated for the purchase of the transport vehicle includes the customization and installation of its blinkers.

It can be recalled that aside from BJMP, the Mandaue City Police Office also received motorcycles and sport utility vehicles from the city government to augment the mobility of the personnel in maintaining the peace and order of the city. (KFD)
