A FIRE erupted on the last day of Fire Prevention Month on Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City.The Cebu City Fire Office (CCFO) received a call about the fire at 11:35 a.m., which was later raised to first alarm at 11:42 a.m. and second alarm after 13 minutes.The fire gutted the three-storey building owned by a certain Teresita To Chip located at 14-E Villa Teresita Street.According to CCFO fire investigator FO2 Fulbert Navarro, the fire started in a room on the first floor rented by a certain Mary Sedaya.Damage due to the fire was estimated to reach more than P900,000.Based on its initial investigation, the CCFO hinted at electrical overload as the cause of the blaze.No one was reported injured.SFO2 Wendell Villanueva, spokesperson of the CCFO, said this is the 20th fire to occur this month, bringing the overall damage to around P53 million.
