Borres vs. Daham headlines NoGi Submission Grappling

MMA fighter Jestoni Borres and Eid Daham face each other in the main event of NoGi Submission Grappling Invitational on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at the Strive CCA Gym in Mandaue City.

Borres, who trains out of Cebu Jiujitsu, is a boxer and an MMA fighter. He’s a blue belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu (BJJ).

Daham of 98BJJ is also a blue belt and a medalist of the Asian Jiujitsu Federation.

“This is just a small event to keep our local grapplers busy. We also want a different format where there is no point system and the grapplers will really look for a submission. In this way, we can really maximize the effectivity of jiujitsu in combat,” said event organizer Chris Cabang.

Also in the main card, Survival MMA’s Bong Pates faces Bohol Island Jiujitsu’s Vincent Limpot, Macdom Malawi of Malawian MMA/Fabricio is up against Jiujitsu Methods’ Janssen Canturias and Jiujitsu Methods’ Jamieboy Fabula is fighting Bohol Jiujitsu’s JM Calubag.

Also featured in the show are two MMA veterans in a “Champion vs. Champion” fight.

Unbeaten Lemuel Maglinte of Jiujitsu Methods takes on experienced Arnel Ylanan of Checkmat Cebu Ronin.

In the preliminary bouts, Odie Lejarde of Checkmat Cebu/Ronin takes on Fraction Jiujitsu’s Shary Yap, former pro boxer and MMA fighter Marjo Borres of Cebu Jiujitsu is up against Jason Morres of Malawian MMA/Fabricio, Jiujitsu Methods’ EJ Patron locks horns with Lourence Pendejito of Cebu Jiujitsu, Fraction Jiujitsu’s Mio Tayurang takes on Jiujitsu Methods’ Kenneth Abuzo, Malawian MMA/Fabricio’s Daniel Corporal faces Harold Tabalino of Checkmat Cebu/Ronin and 98BJJ’s Dennis Augis squares off with Von Alquisalas of Checkmat Cebu/Ronin.
