A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl has accused her 13-year-old neighbor in Barangay Baye, Asturias town, northwestern Cebu on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021 of sexually abusing her.
The boy has since been turned over to municipal social workers following his arrest by the Asturias police.
SunStar is withholding the identities of the children for being minors and for the sensitivity of the case.
Police Major Gilfred Baroman, chief of the Asturias Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that it was the parents of Mary (not her real name) who filed the complaint after she admitted to them of what Mark did to her.
Mary told police that while she tending to her family’s pigs on Monday morning, she was suddenly approached by Mark.
Mark sexually abused her on the spot, Mary told police.
Mary admitted she couldn’t fight back as she was afraid that Mark might hurt her even further.
After Mark left the area, Mary ran to her parents and told them what happened.
Operatives of the town’s Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) have brought Mary to a public hospital in Cebu City for a physical and psychiatric evaluation.
They are still awaiting results of Mary’s evaluation before they can proceed further with the case. (GPL / JKV)
