Broadcast journalist Bobby Nalzaro laid to rest

“A HEARTBREAKING moment when the newscaster becomes the news.”This was what Rev. Fr. Dan Angeles said when he started his homily during the burial mass for the late Cebu tri-media personality Pablito “Bobby” Nalzaro at the Sacred Heart Church on D. Jakosalem Street, Cebu City Monday, March 21, 2022.Nalzaro’s friends, family, and media colleagues recalled the late journalist’s colorful life during the memorial service.Niño BonitoGloria Nalzaro-Ocho, the older sister of the late journalist, described him as the apple of the eye in the family, or niño bonito. She said Bobby is the most-loved son, as he was the youngest of six siblings.Ocho also mentioned that Bobby already had a passion for journalism since he was young.”He would usually stand up on a table and give speech. So, from the start, I knew he already had a passion for media,” Gloria said in Cebuano.A great fatherElroy Nalzaro, Bobby’s eldest son, described the late journalist as a great father. He said his father would always remind him of how fortunate he and his siblings are. He also recalled his father’s sacrifices just to give them a good life.Dream come trueMeanwhile, Cecil Quibod-Castro, Bobby’s co-anchor for GMA 7 Balitang Bisdak, said working with the late journalist was a dream come true.Quibod-Castro described Bobby as a very humble man. She added the co-anchor never made him feel inferior while they were working.The veteran journalist died last March 17, 2022 at the age of 58 due to multiple organ failure.His remains were cremated in a funeral home in Cebu City. The inurnment took place in a columbary in Mandaue City.Nalzaro was also a radio commentator at dySS Super Radyo and a columnist of SunStar Cebu and Superbalita Cebu. (HIC)
