Buntan scores impressive TKO of Martin in ONE Fight Night 10

FIL-AM fighter Jackie Buntan scored a stunning first-round technical knockout of Aussie Diandra Martin on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in ONE Championship’s US debut event, ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III, at the 1STBank Center in Denver, Colorado.

Buntan rocked Martin with a couple of left hooks and an elbow in the first half of the opening round. The 25-year-old Buntan landed a left hook to the body followed by an overhand right that dropped Martin to the canvass. The referee immediately stopped the fight at the 2:34 mark of the first.

Buntan improved to 24-6, while dropped to 11-3-1.

Following the impressive win, Buntan is in a good position to once again fight for the ONE Women’s strawweight Muay Thai belt currently around the waist of Smilla Sundell. Buntan fought Smilla for the vacant belt last year and lost by unanimous decision.

Buntan also made it known that she wants to fight for the ONE Women’s strawweight kickboxing belt, which is currently vacant.

On the other hand, Fil-Aussie Reece McLaren (16-9) lost again to former ONE flyweight champion Kairat Akhmetov (30-2) by unanimous decision in a rematch.

McLaren bowed down to Akhmetov also by unanimous decision in their first meeting back in 2019.

In the main event, MMA legend and ONE flyweight king Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (25-4-1) ended his feud with Adriano Moraes (20-5) with a unanimous-decision victory in their trilogy in the main event. (EKA)
