THE Cebu Provincial Government is spending nearly P42 million to provide 20 ambulances to the hospitals it runs in the province.Each of Cebu’s four provincial hospitals will get two ambulances, while the 12 district hospitals will receive one ambulance each, according to Sugbo News, the official news platform of the Cebu Provincial Government.Each of the ambulances costs P2.1 million and comes with a defibrillator, oxygen therapy set, stretcher, nebulizer, blood pressure gauge, stethoscope, blood glucose meter, manual resuscitators, suction machine, laryngoscope set, patient monitor, non-contact thermometer, smartphone communication device and other medical equipment required by the Department of Health for government ambulances.Some of the ambulances have already been turned over to the hospitals.Last Thursday, March 17, 2022, during the Caravan of Provincial Government Services in the second district, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia led the turnover of one ambulance each to the Argao District Hospital and the Oslob District Hospital.Garcia also turned over two ambulances to the Balamban Provincial Hospital and one ambulance each to the Tuburan District Hospital, the Barili District Hospital and the Dr. Jose Ma Borromeo Memorial Hospital in Pinamungajan during the Capitol’s caravan in the third district last March 15.Two ambulances have also been turned over to the Severo Verallo Memorial Provincial Hospital in Bogo City and one ambulance each to the Bantayan District Hospital and the Daanbantayan District Hospital in the fourth district.For the fifth district, two ambulances were turned over to the Danao Provincial Hospital and one ambulance each to the Juan Dosado Memorial Hospital in Sogod on March 10 and Ricardo Maningo Memorial Hospital in San Francisco town in Camotes on March 11.In the seventh district, one ambulance each has been turned over to the Mariano Jesus Cuenco Memorial Hospital in Malabuyoc and the Badian District Hospital.The governor’s brother, Deputy Speaker Pablo John Garcia (Cebu, 3rd district), and son-in-law Rep. Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco (Cebu, 5th district) accompanied her during the caravans in their districts.Capitol is also providing eight police patrol pickup vehicles to the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) representing the prizes for police stations that won the Sugbusog sa Estasyonan at the district level.Each of the vehicles is worth P1.2 million, the Capitol said.The patrol vehicles have been awarded to the Argao Police Station for winning the contest in the second district and the Balamban Police Station, the winner in the third district.Sugbusog sa Estasyonan is a backyard gardening project that enables police stations to take part in the Capitol’s food security program launched during the Covid-19 pandemic.Governor Garcia introduced the Sugbusog program to households and purok in 2020 to help Cebu generate enough food amid the pandemic. The Capitol expanded the program to include public schools in April 2021.The following month, the CPPO informed Garcia that it would replicate the program by setting up backyard gardens in all police stations in Cebu Province and the CPPO headquarters in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
