CCMC out-patient department ‘fully operational’ on Feb. 1

THE out-patient department (OPD)of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) will be fully operational starting Monday, Feb. 1, 2021.

The OPD resumed partial operations after city officials conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the CCMC on Dec. 28, 2020, said City Adminstrator Floro Casas Jr.

Although it has been catering to patients, there were times when it had to be closed to give way for the ongoing construction in the hospital, he said.

“Of course, we had to turn away patients at certain times. For example, when the crane was removed, the OPD had to be closed because we didn’t want to endanger anyone,” Casas said in Cebuano, referring to the crane that was in front of the building during the ribbon-cutting.

He said work on other floors is ongoing, while equipment and ward beds are being installed in the first three floors.

He said the first three floors will be completed by the end of the year.

Casas said the CCMC administrator, the contractor and the Office of the Building Office are working on the occupancy permit. (JJL)
