CCPO halts detention cell visits to its HQ, 11 stations

VISITS to the detention cells of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and its 11 stations are suspended after six arrested persons of the Pardo Police Station tested positive for Covid-19.

The police officers who were close contacts of the persons deprived of liberty (PDL) were swabbed and isolated.

The CCPO said the six PDL were subjected to a swab test before they will be brought to the Cebu City Jail in Barangay Kalunasan.

Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, deputy city director for operation, said they are suspending the visits of all relatives of the PDL detained in 11 police stations and Camp Sotero Cabahug, the CCPO headquarters on Gorordo Ave.

The entire Pardo Police Station was not placed on lockdown. Its detention cell was disinfected.

Parilla believes that the six PDL had been infected before their arrest. They were transferred to the isolation unit of the city jail. (AYB / BBT)
