CCPO ready for Sinulog Grand Parade, has ‘Plan B’ in case of venue change

THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is 100 percent ready for the Sinulog Grand Parade that will be held at the South Road Properties (SRP) on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, CCPO director, said event commanders and police personnel who will be deployed along the parade route conducted a walk-through of the activity despite the heavy downpour on Wednesday, January 11.

Dalogdog said they have already identified the spot where they will set up a multi-agency coordinating center where all communications from Police Regional Office Central Visayas Director Brigadier General Jerry Bearis, the Task Force Sinulog commander, will go through.

He said the aim of the walk-through was to familiarize with the route so police personnel who will be deployed in the area will know what to do on the day of the parade.

He said they have also identified the area where firetrucks, ambulances and patrol cars can park on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the CCPO director said they have a “Plan B” as part of their contingency plan in case Mayor Michael Rama changes his mind about the venue.

However, Dalogdog pointed out that the Cebu City Government is focused on the SRP as the venue for the event.

“As far as I know, the mayor is sure that the grand parade will take place at the SRP,” he said in a mix of Cebuano and English.

He said they continue to deploy police personnel to secure religious activities of this year’s Fiesta Señor like the Walk with Mary on Friday, January 13, which is immediately followed by the Traslacion, then the seaborne procession in the early morning of Saturday, January 14, and the solemn procession on Saturday afternoon.
