CCTO’s speed gun to end SRP speeding to be enforce at SRP

MOTORISTS passing through the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City should avoid overspeeding or get penalized.

This after the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) has acquired a radar speed gun to help detect the speed of vehicles passing along the SRP.

With their speed gun, the CCTO can now start implementing City Ordinance 2621, which requires vehicles passing through the SRP to move within a speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour.

The ordinance, which was authored by Cebu City Councilor Raymond Alvin Garcia, was enacted in April this year.

Paul Gotiong, CCTO spokesperson, said drivers caught driving beyond the speed limit may be penalized with a P2,000 fine and attendance of a four-hour seminar for the first offense.

For the second offense, the motorist will be required to pay a P2,500 fine, attend a four-hour seminar and spend three hours for community service.

But a motorist caught the third time will be required to pay a P3,000 fine and have his or her vehicle impounded.

Gotiong said the CCTO is testing one speed gun for now before acquiring more. It is now being used by the personnel assigned at the SRP. (JJL)
