THE Cebu City Government has formed a task force under its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to monitor whether businesses are following the health protocols against Covid-19.
City Councilor Joel Garganera, deputy chief implementer of the EOC, said the task force has 16 members who will list violations committed by business establishments.
“We are not here to make things hard for them kay nasayod ta unsa kalisod ang panahon (since we know how hard the time is). Agi rani og abag kanila, sanglit ang pagsunod sa mga (This is a way to help them because following all the) protocols mao ra ang dalan nga maluwas ta aron Dili ta mabalik sa kanhi (is the only way to save us and prevent the reversal of) quarantine status nga estrikto (to a stricter one), “ Garganera said.
In the past week, 10 business establishments have been issued show cause orders from the City Government to explain why they committed violations such as not enforcing social distancing, and allowing their customers not to wear their masks.
The EOC task force monitors malls and business establishments during daytime, while the Cebu City Police Office and the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (Probe) team conduct monitoring at nighttime. (PAC)
