THE Cebu City Government has started an inventory on all pieces of equipment and properties issued to councilors as some will step down on June 30, 2022.Rolly Ardoza, head of the Department of General Services (DGS), said Thursday, May 29, that they have sent letters to some councilors to inform them about the inventory of items. On June 30, eight councilors will vacate their offices to give way to the new set of councilors who won during the May 9 national and local elections.Councilors Alvin Dizon and Lea Japson failed to win their reelection bid, while Councilor Niña Mabatid did not win the congressional race for Cebu City’s North District.Outgoing Councilors Eugenio Gabuya and David Tumulak will also be stepping down after reaching the three-term limit for politicians at the local government level.Tumulak ran for mayor in the recent election but came in third after Mayor Michael Rama and Margarita Osmeña, the wife of former mayor Tomas. The office of the late Councilor Raul Alcoseba will also be vacated after his substitute and son, Ramonito, failed to win during the election.Meanwhile, incumbent Councilors Eduardo Rama and Raymond Garcia will transfer to new offices on June 30.Rama won as congressman for the city’s south district, while Garcia will be the city’s new vice mayor until 2025.However, the DGS clarified that the inventory will not only be conducted to the outgoing councilors but will include all members of the City Council.Charity Marcos, supply officer of the DGS, said the inventory will ensure that the properties and equipment issued by the City Government to the City Council members’ offices are still intact. Before June 30, the DGS will go to offices to witness the turnover of items from the outgoing to the incoming councilors.
