Cebu City holds dry run of house-to-house vax drive

THE Cebu City Government on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, administered vaccines to residents of a home for the aged in Barangay San Jose and members of two households as a dry run of its house-to-house Covid-19 vaccination campaign.

Rama said this campaign targets individuals who are bedridden and those who have difficulty walking. Household members who do not meet the criteria will not be included.

Rama said the Vaccine Advisory Board still has to assess the dry run.

Mobile vaccination will also be conducted for persons deprived of liberty at the Cebu City Jail. The guidelines for this scheme still have to be finalized.

These are among the vaccination campaigns that the City Government is planning in order to ramp up inoculations against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Others are a drive through facility at the New Normal Oasis for Adaptation and a Home (Noah) Complex, and establishment of 21 satellite vaccination sites in hospitals and government agencies.

Six existing vaccination sites are located at University of Cebu (UC) Banilad, Robinsons Galleria, SM Seaside, UC Senior High School Private Campus, Noah Complex and Ayala Center Cebu.

As of Aug. 6, the City Government has administered a total of 218,754 doses to 127,798 individuals, of whom 90,956 have been fully vaccinated.

A total of 466,069 individuals have registered with the City’s vaccination program.

At the Visayas Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC), spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said 109,532 healthcare workers in Central Visayas have been fully vaccinated while 15,438 others were awaiting their second dose as of Aug. 4.

There are 7,019 others who registered for vaccination, but have yet to receive a single dose.

“We do have a few more unvaccinated and it is possible (that) it’s because of scheduling or there might be those who are still undecided, or the other possibility would be, (they’re) waiting for a brand they are most comfortable with,” she said.

Central Visayas has received 1,966,190 doses of vaccines since March 2021, consisting of 1,053,840 doses of Sinovac, 347,600 doses of AstraZeneca, 345,150 of Pfizer, 207,850 of Janssen, and 10,700 doses of Gamaleya.

Meanwhile, 430,542 senior citizens in the region have not yet received their first dose. Of the 567,177 registered senior citizens, only 116,711 are already fully vaccinated.

For the A3 priority group (persons with comorbidities), VVOC data showed that 193,634 have been fully vaccinated out of the 371,257 who received the first dose.

From the A4 priority group (workers), 896,988 have registered as of Aug. 4. Of this number, 10,769 have been given their first dose and 7,733 have also received the second dose. (JJL, WBS)
