Cebu City jabs 450 on first day of Covid vax for healthy minors

ONLY 450 of the 500 minors without comorbidities scheduled for vaccination in Cebu City on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

City Health Department officer-in-charge Dr. Jeffrey Ibones told Superbalita Cebu that they still have to determine the reasons why 50 teenagers, aged 12 to 17, failed to show up at the vaccination site.

On Monday, the Cebu City Government started its vaccination rollout for minors who are healthy at Doña Anunciacion Aznar Memorial Building in Southwestern University Phinma in Barangay Sambag 2.

Acting Mayor Michael Rama went to the venue before the vaccination started.

SunStar reported earlier that 11,899 minors without comorbidities, whose parents had consented to their vaccination, had registered at Pabukanata.com, as of 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6.

Also, 1,134 minors with comorbidities registered for Covid-19 vaccination.

There are an estimated 160,000 minors aged 12-17 in Cebu City.

The City kicked off its vaccination for minors against Covid-19 with the vaccination of minors with comorbidities at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center last Oct. 29. (PAC)
