Cebu City, Province still on ‘blue alert status’

THE local government units of Cebu City and Cebu Province have remained on heightened alert as both expect moderate to heavy rains to continue on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 due to Tropical Depression Agaton (Megi).Gerardo Carillo, head of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), told SunStar Cebu that they continue to raise their blue alert status in the city even as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has already lifted its tropical storm signal in some parts of Cebu.As of 5 p.m. on April 12, 2022, only the Camotes Islands in Cebu are still under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1.Carillo said the CDRRMC will continue to hoist the blue alert status in the city until the end of the Holy Week.Meanwhile, personnel from the Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) will remain on heightened alert because Camotes is still under Signal Number 1.Wilson Ramos, PDRRMO spokesperson, told reporters that they will remain under blue alert status as the rains brought by Agaton could still cause damage in different parts of the province.
