Cebu City PWDs set to receive financial aid

THE distribution of financial assistance for qualified persons with disability (PWD) in Cebu City will start on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, after Mayor Edgardo Labella gave the go signal.

The city mayor recently signed the executive order for the distribution of P4,000 in cash aid covering the months of June, July, August and September.

The mayor is working from home due to his lingering illness.

There are around 12,000 qualified PWDs in Cebu City to receive the financial assistance. Each qualified PWD is entitled to P1,000 in cash aid per month.

In case of a PWD’s death within the months covered by the financial aid, the family of the PWD would receive the assistance.

The family will receive P1,000 if the PWD’s death occured in June; P2,000, July; P3,000, August; and P4,000, September.

Since the distribution will still be done through house-to-house visits, the qualified PWDs should put markings on their door or gate, indicating the PWD’s name and the PWD identification card (ID) number. No distribution of financial assistance will happen at Cebu City Hall.

During the distribution process, the PWD must present the original and non-expired PWD ID issued between 2019 to 2021.

The executive order of Labella stated that an expired PWD ID forfeits the financial assistance. The renewed PWD ID should have the latest 1×1 picture of the recipient.

If the recipient is absent, an authoritization letter is needed, provided it contains a valid reason why the recipient could not personally claim the financial assistance. (JJL)
