Cebu eases travel for local tourists from other provinces

THE Province of Cebu has officially opened its gates to tourists from other provinces, allowing them to visit Cebu.

This is in accordance with Executive Order (EO) No. 12 issued by Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.

The order sets easier rules for travel to Cebu Province, which has 44 towns and six component cities. The Provincial Government’s jurisdiction excludes the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.

Under EO 12, a real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test is no longer required to visit tourist destinations in Cebu Province.

There are only three requirements: a valid medical certificate issued by a reputable doctor within seven days before the trip, proof of pre-booking at a resort or hotel where the tourist shall stay for the duration of his visit, and passing the Covid-19 symptoms checking at the points of departure and arrival.

Garcia wants to revive the tourism economy of Cebu province, especially the affected businesses and livelihood of Cebuanos who depend on tourism. (ANV)
