JB Borlongan hit Cebu FC’s lone goal in the first half of the match. The win kept Cebu FC’s slim chance of winning the league alive.
Kaya FC Iloilo kept its comfortable lead as the top team in the PFL tournament after a dominant win over Maharlika Manila FC last Saturday, May 20. Kaya FC totally outclassed Mahalika FC with a dominant opening half.
Dylan Nobiraki hit the opening goal in the 12th minute. Another Japanese, Tamon Horikoshi, scored the second goal in the 26th minute. Fitch Arboleda scored from a rebound in the 39th minute. Kaya FC skipper Jovin Bedic joined in on the action right before halftime after hitting the back of the net in the third minute of added time.
The league’s scoring leader Daizo Horikoshi continued his impressive form and scored Kaya FC’s fifth goal in the 61st minute. It was Horikoshi’s 15th goal of the season.
Maharlika FC managed to get a consolation goal after Ibrahima N’dour scored in the 71st minute.
Kaya FC still sits at the top with 52 points, while Cebu FC is second with 47 points.
Kaya FC has one more match left against Stallion FC on Saturday, May 27, while Cebu FC has two more matches left, one against Stallion FC on Wednesday, May 24, and the other against Azkals Development Team on Saturday.
Kaya FC needs at least a draw to be crowned as this year’s PFL champions.
