AT LEAST 27,000 passengers made it home during the long weekend for the “kalag-kalag,” the Cebuano term for the observance of All Saints’ Day (Nov. 1) and All Souls’ Day (Nov. 2).
This was announced by Carmen Quijano, manager of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) and Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT) on Monday, Nov. 1.
Quijano said more passengers have returned home now since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in March 2020.
The travel restrictions intended to prevent the spread of Covid-19 last year were very strict, resulting in fewer travelers.
CSBT recorded 20,000 passengers, while CNBT recorded 7,000 passengers.
The situation at both terminals over the weekend was smooth.
The CSBT was forced to open its exit gate to accommodate the passengers waiting for their buses, but no untoward incident happened.
It was estimated that 300 buses traveled to the south, while 200 also traveled to northern Cebu from Oct. 30 to Oct. 31.
Quijano said they are preparing for another influx of passengers ahead of Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. (ANV / KAL)
