The culture and arts are some of the major factors as to why Cebu is a vibrant city filled with so much tradition. However, it is unfortunate that a lot of Cebu’s artists are not presented with the platform to present and showcase their works where they can be appreciated more by the community.Now, the Arts Council of Cebu Foundation Inc. is partnering with Ayala Center Cebu for the fourth installment of the highly anticipated and much-loved Tubô Cebu Art Fair, an event where artists from different regions can display and showcase their unique masterpieces for people to see and enjoy.This year’s theme is “Let’s Play,” and artists have taken on a more playful approach, engaging more on their passions. From Sept. 11 to 18, Tubô will hold a seven-day online art sale via www.tubocebu.art, allowing the audience to participate in the auctioning experience that is usually exclusive to only a select group of people.With a maximum of P50,000 price point, even simple art enthusiasts can already start building their regional art collection.Likewise, the fair will conduct in-person and online discussions. Topics include “Young at Art,” what the next generation can do now as future art patrons; “Public Art Playgrounds,” what it takes to open and sustain public venues for Filipino art and creativity; and “On Playful Practice,” how artists push the boundaries of their medium, processes and content.The physical exhibits will be held at Ayala Center Cebu until Sept. 18 and will feature a premiere signature collection for art investors and VIPcollectors. These include works from established artists Darby Alcoseba, Gigi Ocampo, Kimsoy Yap Jr., Sam Penaso, Geovanni Abing, Adeste Deguilmo, Melvin Gurheim, and other household names in the region.The weeklong event will be the first of its kind in exploring, presenting, and selling the distinctive works of masterful artists from the Visayas and Mindanao. It works to infuse the artists’ ideas, values, and skills into a larger, more art-appreciative society as part of Tubô’s mission to make the Visayas art a part of the national culture.
