Chan denies offering P10M to opposition Lapu-Lapu councilors

LAPU-LAPU City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan has brushed aside the allegation raised by a city councilor that he had offered P10 million to city councilors from the opposition if they would bolt to his camp.

This was the mayor’s response to City Councilor Rudy Potot, whose allegation came out on social media.

Chan said the allegation was baseless as he did not have that amount of money.

The mayor admitted that he had read Potot’s statement, but for him it was a lie.

Chan challenged the councilor to whom he had allegedly offered P10 million to appear and prove the allegation.

He also downplayed the allegation that he claimed that the funds for his “Ahong Bayanihan” program came from him, even though the money came from the people who contributed for it.

Chan said he did not claim that the money came from him.

He said he just participated in the program and carried out some work.

The mayor plans to consult his lawyer for a possible filing of a complaint against Potot. (GCM / KAL)
