City of Naga, Consolacion urged to step up Covid vax rollout

THE Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC) encouraged the municipality of Consolacion and the City of Naga to hit 50 percent of its vaccination of its eligible population by the end of November.

VVOC spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said in her Project Balik Buhay daily briefing on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 that it was what the national government instructed after the two local government units (LGUs) were not able to step up its vaccination efforts.

Latest data from the VVOC showed that Consolacion has only fully vaccinated 43.70 percent of its eligible population and administered 52.39 percent for the first dose while Naga City has fully vaccinated 46.02 percent and 48.95 percent for the first dose as of Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021.

Of the LGUs grouped by the VVOC under Metro Cebu are Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Talisay City, Naga City, and the towns of Consolacion and Minglanilla.

“The instruction of the national government is for Consolacion and Naga City to be able to come up with 50 percent of its total eligible population by month’s end,” she said.

Loreche believed the city and the town will be able to rise to the challenge.

“It’s an encouragement to the City of Naga and Consolacion to work harder to attain the 50 percent fully vaccinated. They are almost there already and just a little pushing for them to accomplish the target,” she said.

Metro Cebu already fully vaccinated 54.54 percent of its eligible population while 63.51 percent already received the first dose.
