Close to 90,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses administered

THE Cebu City Government has administered a total of 89,302 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine doses since it started its vaccine rollout on March 24, 2021.

According to the data provided by the Management Information and Computer Services officer-in-charge Richter Castañares, 63,668 were administered as the first dose, while 25,634 were administered as the second dose.

The City has been using four Covid-19 vaccine brands, which are supplied by the Department of Health. These are Sinovac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sputnik V.

As of Monday, June 21, a total of 235,880 individuals have registered for the City’s vaccination program, Castañares said.

In a recent interview, Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, City Health Department officer-in-charge, said the City continues to inject its remaining supply of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. However, it is only expected to last until Wednesday, June 23, he said.

Ibones said the City has to use all the remaining doses before the health department delivers another batch of vaccines.

He earlier said the City has an allocation of more than 21,000 doses from the new batch of Pfizer vaccine that arrived in Central Visayas.

He had hoped that the City would soon receive a new shipment of the Sinovac vaccine that it can administer to essential and economic workers belonging to the Category A4 since Pfizer vaccines will only be injected to individuals belonging to Categories A1 (health care workers), A2 (senior citizens), A3 (persons with comorbidities) and A5 (indigent sector).
