Comelec Cebu: Polling precincts to close at 7 p.m. on May 9

VOTERS are reminded that the local and national elections will close by 7 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022.Jerome Brillantes, acting elections supervisor of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Cebu Provincial Office, told SunStar Cebu that the elections will start at 6 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m. on the same day.Voters are advised to plan ahead as to what time they will cast their votes to avoid inconvenience.Brillantes, however, clarified that the electoral board will list the names that fall in line until 7 p.m.“Basta kay naa pa sila sa presento at the time sa closing, makabotar gyud sila… bahala nag maugmaan,” Brillantes said.(As long as they are still in the precinct at the time of closing, they can still vote… it does not matter if they do it on the next day.) “Katong moabot after 7 p.m, di napod to siya kabotar,” he added.(Those who will arrive after 7 p.m., they cannot vote.)Brillantes said all the polling places both for the regular and symptomatic voters will implement the one-meter social distancing regardless of the Alert Level status. He said the Comelec does not require the wearing of a face shield and presentation of vaccination cards regardless if the voter is asymptomatic or not.But should the concerned LGU require the wearing of a face shield or presentation of a vaccination card, then they will implement it, said Brillantes.Brillantes said the Comelec only requires the wearing of face masks and that the voter should be a registered voter in the LGU.Brillantes earlier said they are ready for the May elections in the province, stressing that they already distributed all the ballots that corresponds to the number of voters in 44 municipalities and six component cities on Saturday.
