Consolacion mayor ‘cracks down’ on employees amid complaints

EMPLOYEES of the Municipality of Consolacion will now be monitored at work.Mayor Theresa “Neneng” Alegado made this announcement after she received several complaints of employees from different departments who do not treat the public accordingly.“So you have a big problem and you seek assistance but no one will entertain you because it’s not office hours. Will that make you happy? Let’s go back to the golden rule that ‘whatever you sow, you reap’,” she said in a mix of Cebuano and English.During their flag-raising ceremony on Monday, September 26, 2022, the mayor urged employees to increase their productivity and not to be stingy with their time and talent.“What is productivity? You deliver more on the days you are paid instead of being idle when you are supposed to be working,” she said in Cebuano.Alegado said several people have approached her to complain about the treatment they received from several employees, which is why she ordered an investigation on the matter to determine if these are true.“I cannot immediately confront the subject of their complaints because they are just too many, but this time we will start monitoring. Let us be sensitive to the complaints because every day there are those who complain about the public market, the traffic and ‘rude’ employees,” she said in a mix of Cebuano and English. She told the employees that this is not the kind of public service she has in mind.Alegado also told them that she knows about some traffic enforcers in the town who punch in for work but then don’t go out on the streets to man traffic.
